No Place Like Home--Philippine Homeschool Convention 2019 this September

By Mommy Donna and Kib - August 12, 2019

One of the best decisions that I have made is to homeschool Kib.

Before I decided to homeschool Kib, I equipped myself by joining a homeschooling group (it was in Yahoo Groups before), attending orientations, meeting people to tell me more about homeschooling, reading articles on the Internet, emailing people to inquire about different homeschool programs, among others.  Even if I have the skills in teaching my son, I know that homeschooling will be different from teaching in a regular school.

It's been nine years since we started our homeschooling journey!  I don't stop equipping myself with the tools I needed to aid my child in his learning journey.  I still continue to attend talks, workshops, and conferences.  I also need to set an example to my son that learning never stops even if you're already old.

One of the conferences that I attend to equip myself is the one organized by Educating for Life, the Philippine Homeschool Convention.  This year, it will be held at SMX SM Aura on September 7, 2019 from 9:00AM to 5:30PM with the theme, "No Place Like Home".

The theme revolves on the quote by Mahatma Gandhi, "There is no school equal to a decent home, and no teacher equal to a virtuous parent."  Children first learn within the confines of their homes amidst loving parents and well-meaning caregivers.  At home, children learn the basics of communicating, personal care, and proper conduct.  It is within the safety of the home that they first learn about family, love, and security.

Apart from the talks, you can also shop!  Philippine Homeschool Convention will have an expo of more than 50 merchants featuring educational toys and materials, tutorials, and classes, that aim to support homeschoolers, and even non-homeschoolers.

In addition, just like the previous homeschool conventions, there will be activities for kids and teens!

Below are the registration fees:

Early bird rate - Full access (With access to plenary talks, breakout sessions and expo) - P1000 per participant (NOTE: Payments must be received on or before September 1, 2019)
* Expo only ticket - P100 per person
Walk-in and on-site payment rate - Full access - P1200 per participant
* Kids 3 and below are free (lap seating only)

I highly recommend this convention to all! Homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers, this is an event where you can learn a lot about intentional parenting and homeschooling. Homeschooling is not a decision that you make in a short period of time; it needs lots of preparation and assessment if this is for you and your family.

Hope to see you there!
