No one is spared from getting head lice, whether you're rich or poor.
Head lice infestation or pediculosis is one of the most common problems on school-aged children. While it is a common problem for children, head lice infestation or pediculosis can happen to any people regardless of hair length, gender, age, and even social class. Having good hygiene is not even enough for an individual to be spared of getting head lice.
Based on the statistics, six out of 10 school-aged kids (4-10 years old) are infested with head lice. In treating pediculosis, 71% use the traditional fine-toothed comb ("suyod") and only 6% uses anti-lice shampoo.
In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Lamoiyan Corporation's Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo is visiting 30 schools nationwide for its fourth year of Kilusang Kontra Kuto campaign. The campaign started in 2016 and for this year, it targets to shampoo around 6,000 students to eliminate head lice. Representatives from Lamoiyan Corporation also distributed samples of Licealiz shampoo to parents and gave a talk on how to prevent head lice infestation.

Kilusang Kontra Kuto is a coalition which aims to battle head lice infestation nationwide for a kuto-free Philippines. Lamoiyan Corporation's Marketing Director Ruby Rose Cavestany said that the company through this campaign was able to raise awareness and has debunked misconceptions surrounding head lice infestation by conducting talks and activities. "Head lice infestation can occur to anyone and, hopefully, people would start helping affected individuals rather than discriminating because it is a concern that has a solution," Ms. Cavestany said.
In treating head lice infestation, it is better to use both the traditional way ("suyod") and Licealiz. When an individual is infested with head lice, use Licealiz shampoo twice a week for two weeks. After wetting the hair, shampoo it with Licealiz and leave it for 10 minutes. After rinsing, comb the hair with "suyod".
However, it is also ideal to also shampoo hair with Licealiz once a week for two weeks for prevention.
Mommies, let's join hands for a kuto-free Philippines!
