From Roots to Wings: Philippine Homeschool Conference 2016

By Mommy Donna and Kib - September 26, 2016

I love writing about homeschooling, and if there are activities related to homeschooling, I really try my best to go because I know I will learn a lot from it and my son will also enjoy and learn too.  Homeschooling indeed is the best option for us.

I've attended homeschool conferences in the past twice and had been one of the organizers in 2013 homeschool conference.  The Philippine Homeschool Conference (PHC) has become the annual 'must-attend' event of homeschoolers in the Philippines.  I agree that this is the best opportunity for rookie and veteran homeschoolers to mingle, to inspire, and to be updated with what's in in the homeschooling sector.

This year, I'm honored be invited in the media launch of this year's homeschool conference.  This year conference is entitled "From Roots to Wings: Homeschooling Through the Stages".

This year's homeschooling conference is in cooperation with Philam Life and organized by Homeschool Association of the Philippine Islands (HAPI) and Educating for Life (EFL).  It is said that this year's homeschool conference will be bigger and better than the previous homeschooling conferences.

The line-up of speakers consists of international and local individuals who are passionate homeschooling advocates and are considered 'experts' and experienced in homeschooling their respective children.  There will also be breakout sessions where new and experienced homeschoolers alike will find something "fit" for their unique homeschooling situations.

Apart from the talks, there will be an expo area where participants can shop for homeschooling products and services which can help in enriching the homeschooling experience for their children.

Here are the activities for the children during the Philippine Homeschool Conference 2016:
  • Toddler's Area--SMILE Group will provide a toddlers' area for kids ages 1-3- years old
  • Challenge Island sessions--Older children (ages 5 and up) may also join the Challenge Island sessions by SMILE Group.
  • Calligraphy classes--For kids ages 7 and up.  The morning session will be conducted by Ms. Marj Liwag of Little Ms. Printer and the afternoon session will be conducted by Meg and Maddie Barraca.
  • Crochet classes--This will be conducted by Ms. Marge Aberasturi of Crafted Crafts.
Please note that the slots for the classes for kids are limited, so better pay early for the slots.  For safety and security purposes, children should be accompanied by an adult at all times too.

Early bird rate for the conference is P1,000 per head.  This rate will be applicable until October 15, 2016.  Regular rates and on-site registration is P1,200 per head.  Should you wish to only visit the expo area, entrance fee is at P50 per head.  Should parents decide to tag along their children throughout the conference, regular rates apply (for children 3 years old and below, children are free provided that they will sit on parent's lap).

Wait, there's more!

Philippine Homeschool Conference has a mobile app!  Download Philippine Homeschool Conference 2016 on Apple App Store for free!  Be updated with the event's program, talks, speakers, expo, and kids' activities using this app.  This app will soon be available on Google Play as well.

There will also be raffle prizes during the event!  All participants are encouraged to stay until the end of the day to be qualified for the major prizes.  One of the major prizes are scholarships from homeschool providers!
