We all wanted a hassle-free vacation.  However, there are situations during our travels that are beyond our control and because of this, we feel that our planned vacation is ruined.

I have written in the past (see my blog here) that I also had an unpleasant experience during our travels.  I have experienced delayed flight, missing cargo (it was loaded on a later flight), stolen digicam on our vacation, among others.  While I felt bad about the situation, I just looked for other things to be thankful for.  When my digicam was stolen during our Ilocos vacation, I thanked God it's not my wallet nor my mobile phone that was stolen.

My son and I love traveling.  Homeschooling gave us an opportunity to travel anytime of the year.  We usually travel during our birthdays and for this year, we had our first international travel (see blog here).  We will have another international vacation before the year ends and hopefully, we would be able to go to Japan next year (fingers crossed!).  

While there are unavoidable circumstances during our travels, one of the options that we can get is to get a travel insurance.  Now that my son and I are already exploring traveling outside the country, I am also thinking of getting a travel insurance so that if there are unavoidable circumstances that will happen while we're having a vacation in another country, we will still be secured that there is someone who can assist us should these things happen.  It's scary to experience some trouble in an unfamiliar territory, add to that the language barrier that you will encounter in communicating your needs.

I've come across Malayan Insurance.  Malayan Insurance offers non-life insurance like motor insurance, fire insurance, personal accident insurance, and travel insurance.  They also offer business insurance and other special insurance based on your needs as long as they are categorized as non-life insurance.  Malayan Insurance is one of the top non-life insurance providers in the Philippines and is one of the companies under Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC).  Malayan Insurance has been providing non-life insurance to Filipinos for more than 80 years now.

I am checking their Travel Master comprehensive travel insurance and I'm so surprised to know that travel insurance is not that costly!  The cost of the insurance depends on your destination (local or international).  For that small amount that you will pay, you can be insured for as much as Php1,000,000!  Not bad right?!  In addition to that, you can select multiple countries or destinations when you're buying travel insurance especially if you are transferring from one destination to another for the duration of your trip.

• Personal accident--Remember the tsunami incident in 2005?  A lot of tourists died during that time.  We do not know if these people have travel insurance so imagine the stress of the family in bringing home the remains of their loved ones from the accident.  Good news!  Travel Master provides indemnity for accidental death, dismemberment, or disablement as well as accidental burial benefit.  There is no need to worry about the expenses should these kinds of incident happens during our travels. 

• Emergency Medical Treatment--a friend of mine had a terrible asthma attack when they were celebrating their victory in Boracay.  She thought that it was the end of her life because she had to be transported back to the main island because there is no hospital in Boracay.  Being treated for medical reasons in an unfamiliar place can be very expensive.  Due to the suddenness of the situation, travelers often do not have immediate access to resources to pay for the appropriate treatment right away.  When this happens, Travel Master can provide the coverage for the emergency medical treatment you might need.  Should further attention is required, the Travel Master travel insurance coverage extends to follow-up care, as well as the daily incidental expenses involved in hospital confinement.
