Christmas is the most important holiday for Filipinos, whether they are in the country or living abroad. Christmas is the time to reunite with friends and family. Most of the time, Filipinos abroad schedule their vacation in the Philippines during Christmas because Christmas in the Philippines is festive. In other countries, Christmas is just an ordinary day.
We have seen a lot of heart-warming Christmas shorts from the previous years, and this year, Uratex has come up with its own video to again remind us the value of spending this holiday season with family.
Watch the video here:
On the video, we can see a young man longing for the love and company of their mother, supposedly an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW). He has not seen her as she has not come home for the past three years working overseas. Not a day passes that the young man misses his mother, where he shared many fun and memorable moments with her while at his bedroom during his childhood. Now that Christmas is near, the longing is felt more than ever.
Meanwhile, the young man's elder brother also does his best to overcome his yearning for their mother's presence by focusing all his strength on his job. He silently cares for his brother's needs and sees to it that his younger brother continues to strive to be the best individual that he can be. But like his younger brother, he misses his mother as well.
One Christmas, as the brothers were celebrating the holiday without their mother, they were surprised to see her by the door. The joy in the younger brother's eyes was evident with their mother's presence in celebration of Christmas as one family.
Meanwhile, for the elder brother, the arrival of their mother was the perfect time to tell her that he is now ready to take on the responsibility of caring for the family's needs. With their mother's long awaited homecoming, it will be the perfect opportunity to create new memories again together.
The video is a reminder that celebrating Christmas is indeed incomplete if the family isn't whole.
It's been years since we last celebrated Christmas together.....
My brother moved to United States in 2001. Youngest brother also moved permanently in the United States in 2005. We celebrated Christmas in the hospital in 2007 because my father was sick. He then passed away in 2011. My mom moved in the United States in 2012. There were two Christmases that a friend adopted me and Kib to celebrate Noche Buena with them.
But this year, I'm glad that my mom is home for the holidays, weee!
Kib is very happy to spend the holidays with his lola |
